So you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I spotted the Falster set online, at Ikea. I went there the same day because it just so happened to be on a big sale, and snatched it up. I paid a few bucks over 500 for the whole set. ( 4 chairs, bench and table AND the massive umbrella and stand )
Not too bad huh!
Blogging and finishing up client work outside is pretty refreshing..
LOVE this! I love the clean lines of the table and bench! I'll have to come over the next sunny day we get and we can drink our americanos at the table while the nuggets chase the chickens!

DeleteSame problem with our brand new grey set, I'm taking it back. Dawn and magic eraser hasn't worked for me, we've had it a week. It also scratches ridiculously easily! A fingernail leaves a mark.

ReplyDeleteI've tried everything to get the stains out, but to no avail. I've had the set for almost 90 days, debating what to do about it. I love the look of it, but I don't think I can get past the staining. I get that it's outdoor furniture and therefore doesn't need to look perfect, but mine just looks awful at this point and I hate even looking at it. I think I've finally decided to return it. Ugh. Not sure what to get instead.

I have tried Awesome, which cleans everything but not this table, Dawn, Magic Eraser and none have worked. Now I have to keep a table cloth on it. I can't believe IKEA sells this product.

ReplyDeleteThis set is a disaster. Can you say greasy mess that doesn't clean up? I'm throwing it out- unfortunately too late to return. Avoid this crappy table at all costs!!!!!

I have this Ikea table in grey and did try a sealer which seemed to stain it because its not real wood. BUT I found that Howard butcher block conditioner (food grade mineral oil & natural waxes) removes strains and keeps the table looking great!

ReplyDeleteWe have bought the FALSTER outdoor dining set 2 years ago and had the same issues with stains and marks. I have tried Dawn, Magic Eraser, furniture polish, etc. On top, we live in New Mexico where the sun is intense. The surface of the table and chairs get really hot and yes, even using your fingernails will leave a mark. We had a small art work on top of the table where we can see a bubble now. Not happy with "the look" of the set anymore and it looks like IKEA does not have the set in their outdoor line any longer. I will try Cblair's suggestion with the HOWARD BTCHER BLOCK CONDITIONS after sanding it lightly.
