What's Hot! Naturals/Golds: My Picks

Everywhere I turn, lately, I'm seeing more and more natural and gold accents. Golds made their way back into the scene last year, but the trend continues! It's nice to have a mix of metallic here and there. Here are my current faves.

Makeover Monday // Guest Room Overhaul

This room belongs to my "adopted" brother, who lives with us for 5 months out of the year. I'm so mad because I cannot find the before pictures, but trust me, it was bad.
I joked that it was where old furniture went to die. It was ugly. It had builder beige on the walls ( in flat, EEK ) along with furniture I had intended to refinish, recover etc. I finally just bit the bullet, tossed the crap and bought new.

It was a relatively cheap makeover though! I wanted a very very clean feeling room, and to keep it masculine I stuck with dark finishes but light fabrics.

There's a lot of Ikea in this room, as you'll see. The Bed and Nightstands(craigslist ), Wall Lamp, Ottoman (free on the side of the road ) Navy Pillow Cover, and Sofa are all Ikea.

Speaking of Lamp...isnt she a beaut?

These cozy Euro Shams are via Pottery Barn clearance, I scored BOTH for $22 shipped.
P.S. Cheapest places for Euro Inserts is Overstock.com

The room was flip flopped for a long time, I had the bed in this living area but this arrangement is far better.

Frames are Ikea Ribba, Table was custom, Chair was Craigslist $15, Pillow Nordstrom Clearance, Lamp was Marshalls Clearance.

The sofa was nearly brand new off of Craigslist, It's Ikea, scored for $100 and the quality is pretty great.

Hiding under the table is the rolling Ottoman I recovered ( read about it here )

I found this guy on clearance for $29 ( reg $139 at World Market )

And finally these Bamboo Roman Shades from JCP.com were $18 a piece!

The paint is my all time favorite grey, Dolphin Fin. It's also used in my daughters room.
I'll be adding accessories here and there, but it's pretty much finished.

Small updates for daughter's rooms

I've been working very slowly on my oldest daughters room for a while. This is the old pic from a three years ago. You can see the whole post HERE.
It was a great room, but I like change, and she was begging us for a bunk bed. We found a great bunkbed on Craigslist, practically new for $100 and went for it. ( I was able to sell her antique bed for $75 so this was a cheap cheap upgrade )

I decided to ditch the stripes and go for, you guessed it, blue. It's a super soft color I actually used in her nursery in another house, it's called crystal clear. I did this probably last fall and forgot to blog it. Oops.

( sorry, it's a phone pic )

We desperately need a rug in here, but I'm so picky, it's been quite the hunt for me. So the search continues.

Some recent additions were the labels on the hemnes dresser, this clearance bust from Michaels for her necklaces, and a $1.99 fabric floral jewelry box from Value Village ( pottery barn ) Mirror is old Ikea, Branches are old Pier One.

Moving on to Lennon's nursery, I'm still thrilled with the color scheme I went with ( Navy, Gold and Peach and Gray) See the original reveal post HERE

The only changes I've made, is to switch where the crib goes, since the other wall has the thermostat on it, and she'd mess with it. The other change is to add this easy "art" to the wall.

I framed one of my favorite go-to outfits of hers, in between some milestone pictures I took for the first 12 months of life.

These are Ikea Ribba Frames, I spraypainted them Gold.

Only thing that has changed here is the changing pad is gone and the basket is here to hold some shoes.

The Rug from Overstock remains and has held up pretty darn good. It does tug, and I have to move it every now and then, but I'm still very happy with this cheap purchase.
